It is almost officially fall and my favorite activity of all time….apple picking… has officially begun. So today I decided against house cleaning and took the kids out. Yep my house is a mess right now….oh well…I am pretty sure no one is coming over LOL
We went to the local orchard….okay not really local….but the one we have been to for the last several years. Little Man and Little Bit had never been before so of course we go over the ground rules. The good news about this particular orchard is that it is VERY family friendly and the community knows it.
Task one is find the correct rows. The orchard is miles long literally so we find the apples we want and then park the car accordingly. We were looking for Gala apples and something called a 20 ounce apple. We also wanted to try the Blondee apples and since they were all in the same general location this was easy. Kids excitedly ran from row to row looking for the right color ribbon which signified that they could be picked. Yep even the non readers can look for the right apples.
All were quite focused on finding the perfect and of course biggest apple. You can imagine the shock on Little Man and Little Bit’s faces when they realized that the 20 ounce apple weighs 20 ounces and is therefore very large. But even there some were in fact bigger then others.
We picked three bags full and loaded up the van to head home. The kids enjoyed chomping on their hand picked fruits and were not even slightly disappointed to find out it was a healthy snack. As we drove home, Little Man asked when we can go again and M2 laughed out loud and said “We do it A LOT during the almost winter time”
I can’t wait to take them again in two weeks!!
